When a black man or woman commits a crime the news makes sure you know that person was black. Either by a picture or they say a black male or female. But when a white person commits a crime they never say a white male committed a crime. They mention no race at all. Only if they are looking for a white male do they mention it. But when a black or mexican commits a crime they make sure you know it right away. I am just curious as to why they do it. Doesn't that subconsciously make people think blacks and mexicans always commit crimes because they never really hear that white people commit crimes. Even when a white man does commit a bad crime (the one in Idaho that killed that family to get the kids to have sex with them) they never said he was white. Doesn't anyone think that that's the reason stereotypes exist when it comes to crime. Any little crime a black or mexican commits is on the 5:00 news. Whites commit the same crimes but they don't make the news.

The next time you watch the news count how many times they let you know an offender was black or other races and how many times they saw the offender was white.

I am neither sheltered and I live in Oakland California if you must know. Obviously you are sheltered because I am 48 and I have watched alot of news broadcast and I insist they always make sure you know they are black and they never tell people an offender was white.

Sorry I do not imagine racism. You imagine there is none. A filipino told me all he knew about Black people is what he sees on the news and all they do is commit crime. I still insist white newsreporters do no mention a crime was committed by a white man. You may see a picture of him but he was never identified as a white man. And I know Mexicans hate black people with a passion and they tell people South of the Border to watch for black people. Now that's funny because I am watching them. I appreciate your answers and you weren't as cruel as I thought you would be.

I forgot don't you think it's sort of redundant to keep mentioning that blacks committed a crime. Since according to white people and some here that we committ 80 percent of crime and white people hardly commit any. So f that. They keep saying it to drill into peoples head that blacks keep on committing crimes and if you didn't actually watch the news you would even know a white face popped on the screen and I watch more news than you probably ever will. Maybe that is why I notice it so much. So don't say you don't watch the news, no you don't watch the news or you'd notice it yourself.

I've noticed it lately also. For the past ever how many years it was wrong to say what the race of a person committing a crime was, I always thought that was stupid because the person could be standing right in front of me and I wouldn't know it.
I think someone has realized that not describing a person is stupid and dangerous and went back to informing the public of the features of a person committing a crime.
I've noticed lately on my own local news the first ten minutes is about criminals and 8 out of ten are black.

Don't side your self with mexicans. They don't like you. Not at all.
If you watch a news cast you should know by now that blacks like their idenity to be known as black whether they are running from the law or office.
Also if you wathc the news casts you will see that all crimes coimitted by whites are indicated so on their rap sheets.
The problem is that yuo are seeing so many crime shows on the news and 80% of lal crimes are committed by blakcs. That is why you see so many . Blacks who do not committ crimes do not see themselves on the news.
I see on the local news nightly pictures of criminals refered to as black and the police are asking people for their help in capturing or locating them an dit's because they are blacks.
How would you have them do describe a 6 ft 180 lb black male as in dread loks?

Who do you get your news from? I see white people on the news all of the time that have committed a crime. In fact, as you stated, a criminal's race is ONLY mentioned when they are still at large. And as far as my friend in Seattle is concerned, the South has changed quite a bit. I've been to Seattle, and guess what, racism is alive and well up there, too. I've been to thirty of the fifty great states of our country and racism agains ALL races is alive and well in all of them.

If you look hard, you can find racism, just about anywhere you want, provided you fill in some blanks.
You may perceive it to be racially motivated the way that they do broadcasts, however, it is all in the perception of the viewer.

I'm not insinuating anything, but it may have something to do with the fact the majority of people in this country are white. It'd be redundant to say "a white person did this" and "a white person did that". It'd be like saying "an American person did this" and "An American person did that." I don't know, I'm only speculating. I think race tensions go deeper than tv, anyway, to answer your question.

if they dont mention the race people automatically assume it's a white person. whites make up the majority in this country, any minority could tell you that.
