Just so you know deifying and defying have different meanings.

The odds against me.
I don't think there is anyone in this world that really believes i can make a difference.
It's the faith i have in myself that makes me keep on keepin' on.
Edit:
Now that i know what 'deifying' means, i guess i can provide you with a better answer.
I don't think i have ever met anyone in my whole entire life that could even hold a candle next to God.
However, i must admit that if i were forced to choose someone, it would be my parents.
The things they have done for me and the way they have led their lives... whoa!
They are held in extremely high regard in my eyes.

At first I thought you had misspelled it. Then I read your note. Etymologically, I guess "deifying" comes from deus and refers to the action and effect of thinking of someone or something as divine or heavenly. I would say I deify some humanitarian secular martyrs of the past century: Martin Luther King, Malcom X, Ernesto "Che" Guevara, Farabundo MartÃ, Oscar Arnulfo Romero, Augusto Cesar Sandino...
