I practice a song, then forget the chords next time I'm trying to play. It doesn't even sound good.

Also, I have small hands, is that a problem, would it be harder for me to learn how to play?

Its tough when you start out. your first couple basic chords are A C D and G. when you have your fingers positioned on the chord, release them slowly on and off on and off, this will train your fingers for that chord. If you are younger and still growing you fingers will indeed get longer but if not they make mini versions of Gibson's, their just a little smaller than the real deal. It will take you some time to get better but just practice and it will come to you very easy after a while. P.S. when you learn you basic chords, you will be able to play many songs do to the fact they are used in almost every song. good luck.

It really depends on your level and personal ability to learn things.

I've been playing classical guitar for about 7 years, learning a song isnt very difficult.

But I remember it would usually take me about 1 week to "learn" it and another week to memorize it when I started. Then I would work non-stop in perfecting it until I had to perform it.

If its a classic, its easy, and you know how to read music well then I believe it should not take more than 1 week

If its just chords it takes like 15min at most, unless it has a lot of chords and modulation, it might take an hour or so.

it took me a while to learn to play a good song... but as everyone says practise makes perfect. I was in the habit of just practising for a few hours all in one shot.. but then i started just playing for about 20 minutes everyday and i could remember the chords and i started getting better. I also have small hands but i don't think that has much to do with it if your just playing chords... maybe if your rockin out some Steve Vai then maybe it would be an issue. Good Luck with all your future guitar playing..

You can play a lot of songs with just 3 major chords. Then graduate to something a little more complex that mixes minors and sevenths. It should only take a week to learn a simple song, butr you have to practice everyday. Everyday!!
