If I were a bad TYRANT, my reasoning would be the fact that I know the best way to get something done in the quickest time, therefore, I should be in charge and make critical decisions in a group. A motivation for being a tyrant would obviously be power over others, and maybe greed for success and appreciation.

Lawrence of Arabia once was reported to have said that the Arabaic tribes understood only one 'Law', the "Law of the SWORD".

What he noticed was that the person with the sword, showing a willingness to use it without hesitation on anyone, became the 'Law'.

Saddam, Milosevic, Tito, Mao, Franco, Stalin, and Hitler KNEW that and used it quite effectively. It may be that history only remembers these men for the bad things they did, but many people died so the rest of the world could "learn" about this phenomenon...... Too bad we didn't really learn did we?
