I mean, he can't go around choking or threatening people all day. Surely he must have a desk with a admin. assistant, has to answer phone calls and go to meetings to discuss fiscal issues that are brought up. And personnel issues; he must be someone's manager and should have to perform a yearly review along with hiring and firing with HR. Does he get vacation time like everyone else? How about sick time or lunch breaks? I imagine if his computer breaks down he has to call IT and he probably has to go to training seminars on new spacecraft and safety issues. Anyone know?

Of course he does...why do you think he is in such a bad mood. A typical day for him is breaking up watercooler stories by the StormTroopers, walking down the hall to ask, for the 100th time, if the DeathStar still has that STUPID engineering flaw that allows it to be destroyed by a single phaser shot...then finding out that, yes, it does and no one seems to know who can approve the budget to fix it. He then marches to his office, which is in the corner overlooking the vast outer-reaches of space, pours himself a cup of 6 hour old coffee (yes, it is called Starbucks there too) and tries to remember his voice mail password. After about 10 minutes of trying every combination of numbers he can think of, he gives up and chokes his assistance to death...which is nice because he counts that as 5 minutes of cardio for the day. After that, he will log onto the Internet to check traffic for his commute home...nothing worse than an accident or a bunch of Jedi hovering around your preferred route. He also can't seem to shake the nagging question he's had for years: in the vacuum of space, where there is no resistance offered by any kind of atmosphere, why do our spaceships have wings? Oh well, another day another EmpireBuck.

Since I'm the most qualified to answer ( being that I'm a Level 12 Marwk Dragonmaster from Star Wars Foreign Legion Squadron, Witchta Falls district) It is easy to say Lord Vader uses his time wisely by mastering the art of the Lightsaber EVERYDAY. Or he did--Reference ROTJ Chapter 32-34.

In the Extended Universe Books, "Star Wars: A Threat to Factors of Production. The Variable Crisis'" He speaks briefly about the bad management skills of the Emperor and how the output and supply of Star Destroyers becomes mishandled--

"If only Marginal cost equals Marginal Revenue!! Then, only then can we maximize our total profit!!!!!!! AAAAGHH!!"

His excellent Jedi Powers are only second to his superior economic mind, or so it was revealed.

Darth Vader in simple terms places a choke carry with the tension on Voldemort. Then he the two suffocates Voldemort or makes use of his lightsaber to slice him in a million/2. Darth Vader will win that conflict a hundred% of the time.

No he doesn't do any of that. The empire in question is much better than that of our own. There are no accusations of sexual harassment. There are no weekly reports needed. There is no Wenis (Friends). DV just does his thing and when someone pisses him off, he deals with it then and there. He doesn't think about a diplomatic solution that never seems to work. I believe all he does is walk around to make sure all the peons are doing his bidding. When he gets done, he goes and chills out in his chamber and probably watches some porn even though he can't get excited.

Who would be desperate enough to apply for that job? "Hello, yes, I would like to apply for the Admin. Asst. job you advertised."

Seriously, what kind of lifespan would that person have. Talk about 'turnover'.

And (being a software designer) I would SO NOT want to be the IT person who had to deal with DV when his computer went down.... Just try explaining to a 'normal' person why they can't do with their computer, or why it will actually take to get something fixed or installed or upgraded or whatever.

Still, I'd like to see the spoof movie about this. Too Funny. Great question!

No, in essence he's like the Emperor's executive assistant. He can do what he wants because he reports directly to the Emperor.

The Empire can conscript... ERRRRR.... outsource staff for the actual day to day runnings of the Imperial War Machine.

He is a very successful delegator. However, some of his staff feel that they are being underappreciated by not being allowed to do any of the cool tasks. There is a lot of passive aggression in his section.

wow...
In any of the Star Wars movies did you see anyone sick?
NO, except Yoda, because in the future if your a part of society or in vaders case a high powered sith lord, then your going to get shots or something to keep you on your toes(not sick). And yes, that's about all he does all day is search for info., threaten people for it and get it. And he destroys anyone in his way. there you go.

When you can kill people without even touching them, meetings tend to be an unneccessary incentive to pick up the pace.
