my boyfriend went to jail, we were late on rent& I wasnt on the lease, So he changed locks& I had to find a place to stay. our things were still in the apart. He told me I had to get a note fr my boyfriend state I could remove Our things. I was pregnate @ the time I had to make arrangement W/ the landlord to get the place unlocked & then hed come back @ 10pm to lock it up.
well I endes up miscarring and he let my boyfriend family have a key and go in to move his stuff out and left mine there but when I didnt get my stuff out that week becouse of a few complications i was having he proceeded to move my things out but also throw most of it in the dumpster. I left him a message saying I wanted my stuff & he had no right to throw my stuff away. He returned the call saying he didnt throw Anything of mine away, but I actually got into the dumster to get a few salvageable items. Now all this was down with out my boyfiend being served with an eviction/permission to give his family the key

First off write a letter to your landlord specifying your demands along with when you need a response by (14 days works well). Make sure you state you will be taking him to court if he does not comply. Don't even waste your time on the phone, verbal conversations are worthless. GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING. If he does not respond within that time (IN WRITING), take him to Small Claims Court. Look up your counties small claims self-help website for information about filing a claim. Make sure you have adequate documentation and evidence to support your claim (send copies of any documentation to your landlord when you write the letter).

Would be a case for Judge Judy. You have to sue them.Be aware that after the lease period expired, your landlord is'nt obliged to store your property. After a reasonable time the landlord assumes the property is abandoned.Unless you have an arraingement with them
