Depends. There is a lot of difference between "18 and 26" versus "28 and 36" or "38 and 46".
The older you get, the less it matters. But in the late teens and early twenties, the life experiences, maturity levels, and expectations are a lot different between someone who's 17-18 and someone who's 25-26. That's not to say it can't work, but it's harder.
When I was 17 I dated someone who was 25. We lasted 5 years. I still had way too much growing up to do. I'm now 35 and married to a man who is 44, and the age difference is pretty much immaterial.

My husband is 10 years older and it does not matter really. Actually men mature later then women so he is caught up to me now lol. I do think we have different taste in music but nothing really wrong with that. A couple could still have different interest in music even if they are the same age. Have fun and do not worry about the age difference

A ordinary difference in age is wonderful yet no longer an quite extensive age hollow by using fact no rely how some human beings could say age would not rely, in actuality it particularly does rely. Having diverse activity, pursuits, critiques, are some components that triggers conflict whilst age difference is in simple terms too huge. So, specific, age difference in marriage do rely.

It does, if the difference is considerable. I don't think you would prefer to have an age difference of 25 to 30 years with your spouse. When one of the partners is too old for the other, problems of compatibility does arise. 8 years is OK, maybe 10 years too. But partners should be as close to each other as possible in all aspects, including age, in order to have a better understanding of each other and for the sake of better mutual adjustment. Of course, it is practically better to have one partner marginally older than the other in order to have one head wiser than the other.

I don't think 8 years is a big deal. I do think it's important that you're at the same "point" in your lives though. For example, if one of you is going to school and the other has already accomplished then things are going to be tough. Just make sure you have enough in common to get through the everyday stuff. I'm involved with a man that's almost 9 years older than me and I think we're at the same point in our lives.

It depends on the maturity level of both partners.
It also depends on the age of both partners.
There is a big difference if you are talking about a 18 year old marrying a 26 year old or a 42 year old marrying a 50 year old.

i say no... i met my husband when i was 18, he was 34 (thats 16 years difference)... we've been together ever since, now im 21 hes 37, we are so happy, love each other wholeheartedly, & have had our first child, a beautiful baby girl & we love her to death! We trust each other completely, & I never did let people's comments bother me, at least I didn't go thru a dozen 18-20 year olds who were the wrong choices... age shouldn't be a factor, as long as its true love!
