You are sort of correct. The uterus is filled with amniotic fluid, not pure water. But the placenta is attached to your uterine wall and connects to the fetus to provide nourishment.

To answer all 3 of your questions in one shot...
The uterus has three things in it - the placenta, the fetus, and amniotic fluid. It's basically a big water baloon. The placenta is an actual organ that grows inside your uterus, attatched to the wall of it. It is full of blood and nutrients, and from it grows the umbilical cord. The umbilical cord attatches to your baby's navel, ad this is how it gets all it's nutrients and oxygen. This is how the fetus can be in fluid and not drown - it doesn't need to breathe because it gets it's O2 from the cord directly into it's bloodstream. Once the baby is born, it begins to breathe, and the umbilical cord gets cut. A while after the baby is born (minutes or sometimes hours) the placenta (with the other end of the umbilical cord attatched to it) detatches from the uterus's wall, and you deliver that, too. So now all three things are out of yor body. The amniotic fluid came out when the "water broke", then the baby, then the placenta.
