I have a DVD+-RW Drive, and recently I successfully burned a DVD-R.

But for the DVD+R, when I insert the disc, it only shows CD-Drive.
I have Alcohol 120%, and it recognizes that it is DVD+R.

What do you think I should do? Do you think that built-in Roxio software in Winxp has anything to do with it? Or it needs to be updated or something?

Anyone?

You stated that your burner is a +- burner, so I will trust you on that. Sometimes you will get a bad disk, that just wont burn. Who knows why. Try a new disk. Some brands are more likely to have bad disks than others, but you will likely find a bad one at some point if you use them a lot. I have a +/- burner, and it doesn't like to burn -R most of the time for some reason, so stick with -R, since you have been successful with that before. There is no real price difference between the two, so stick with what worked. Oh and Alcohol 120% is a great program, that shouldn't be the cause.

Try checking the device driver:

cl Start
cl Settings
cl Control Panel
cl System
cl Hardware
cl Device Driver
R-cl on the item to be checked. Click Properties.
That will tell you if the item is working properly.

To update the driver:
Start, Settings, Control Panel, System, Hardward, Device Driver
click the icon for the item you want
click the “update driver” button on the toolbar.

Did you finalize the disc? If you did, and it still doesn't play, then the program won't support that format.
