I think of tequila, salt, and lime. Really I think Margarita is pretty, but everyone thinks of the drink. Actually I think the drink was named after someones daughter that was named Margarita, so the name came before the drink. But, these days it is more associated with the drink.

I think it is unique and cute. But, it does sound very Spanish. I think of the drink first too. I think if my name were Margarita I could have fun with it. Children are usually too young to think drink when they here it, and teenagers would make a fun joke out of it. But, I don't think it would be a mean joke. If you truly like this name go for it. I don't think your daughter will hate you for it.

Spanish or not, I am not sure but whenever i hear this name, I instantly think of Margarine. Moreover, Margarita, this name sounds too mature for a girl. Not so sexy and and very old. The pros is that, people may think of an experience woman perhaps?

Very pretty. I don't think it sounds too Spanish, but it is actually Spanish for "daisy" (which so happens to be my favorite flower). :) If you're into nicknames, there are so many choices, too.

Check out the song "Margarita" by The Traveling Wilburys. "She wrote a long letter on a short piece of paper..."

If YOU like the name, I say GO FOR IT!!! :)

Margarita is a beautiful name. What if it sound spanish. Any problem? It sounds very good and you might like better Margara. or Marga, more strong names but also beautiful.

I think it's a great name!
My name is Margarita, but I'm Russian, so it's a pretty common name there. My family calls me Rita but in America I go by Maggie. Everyone I meet thinks it's the coolest name ever. So go for it!

Too Spanish? That's the least of that kid's worries....Let me put it this way, if she had a twin, you could name her Olive, or Tequilla...

Seriously, it's interesting as a nickname for an adult, but it would be just too much. Her friends' parents would think that you and her father are a bit tipsy too often.

If you like the sound of it, you could try a varient of Margareta, or Margarethe (mar-gar-EH-ta), but please, not Margarita.

It sounds like a drink. That may make people think of her as a party girl when she gets older. How about Margaret? It's quite distinguished and there are many nick names, Peggy, Meg , Maggie, Margie....
Spanish doesn't bother me, but mixed with Tequila isn't good for a name.
