Take along a laptop with a wireless interface. Search out free "hot Spots". if you stay at hotels, they may offer wired or wireless service free or at nominal cost.

Go to the local library (free Internet access).

Also many hotels have business centers, and many charge. Also call around for Internet cafes. Larger cities all over the world have these cafes designed for tourist.

Many airports also have access terminals/desktops (but charge tons of money)

If you have a laptop, make sure you have a wireless card installed, and bring some network cables.

Some places will offer free wireless for your laptop, near convention centers, in hotel lobbies and other :Hot spots".

You'll need the network cable where someone offers you the opportunity to plug into their office/retail network port.
