You are given more freedom. It is up to you to take notes, do your homework, show up to class. The teacher is not going to babysit you are get onto you for not completing your tasks. You're an adult now so you have to be self-motivated. Your parents aren't there so you are on your own. Just remember that with independence comes responsibility.

It's demanding. I've been going to college for 1 year and 1/2.

The important things is to communicate with your instructor whether or not you are doing poorly. It will work to your benefit when you need letter of recommendation. I would also think about volunteer work depending on what program you are trying to get into because that might give you and advantage in being selected.

What I enjoy the most about college is that you can challenge preexisting standards and ideas. You are not confined to a way of thinking it opens you up for thinking critically about a variety of subjects.

So in a nutshell it can be hard work but, if you give it a chance you'll discover more things about yourself and the world that you might not have known before. :D

Good luck in college!

After you're in college for a while, you'll realize that high school was really like being babysat. You have SO much more freedom, which sometimes is a double-edged sword. The teachers don't hassel you to get assignments turned in, etc... but, they don't really care about you either. You are paying money to go. You gotta step it up. As for outside the classroom, it can be as tame or wide or involved or secluded as you choose. In any case... live up your college years, have fun, but be a little responsible too. These are some good years.

College is all about binge drinking, sex, and cramming for exams. High School is all about popularity and grades. Real life is about 3 things: money, money and money.
