Has this happened before in soccer? Could a player unexpectedly "pass" the ball to a player of the opposing team as an interception?

happens all the time. bad passes that end up with the opposite team obviously not with their hands but coming between a pass and getting the ball is common not really called an interception though

They take the ball away its not really called an interception. Just watch soccer for like 2 minutes and you will see it happen all the time.

in soccer only the goalie can touch the ball but stealing the ball or blocked shots are the norm this would be the same as a interception

yeah i guess so...well it's happened to people on my team. cuz sometimes you don't pass it right. and it could be an interception if you pass it good to ur player but the opposing player gets in the way...if that's what you mean.

I don't know if they call them interceptions...maybe a turnover? or is that just basketball? But yea, it is definitely possible. If you watch a match, you will see that it happens a lot.
