The screen looks like it is cracked, but when i touch it the glass is perfectly smooth. I've looked online and seen that there is two main parts in the screen, the Backlight and the inverter. The backlight seems to be fine... and the inverter too? Here's a picture of what it looks like right now

I've also just noticed that when i open and close the screen the black marks on the screen seem to glow... And i'm not looking for somebody to just tell me to get it replaced, I want to know WHAT is WRONG with it.

The screen is 15.4 inches and is for the M45-S165 toshiba satellite laptop. Could not find any online... Laptop is still under a "Performance Service Plan" at bestbuy. I'll be stopping by tommorrow to hopefully have them fix it.

im sorry to say...if its tft lcd, theres nothing you can do to save it...you'll have to replace the screen alone, the backlight is okay as u assumed...the others are wrecked, for your information keith s,those crystal are actually mercury...the price of a new lcd screen would cost as much as wat bsmith says...how was it broken anyway?
