For people who are young and in love the highest level of intimacy they can experience is sexual intercourse, which is awesome. As the years tick by, if you have a good marriage, the intimacy reaches an increasingly higher, more emotional level, bordering on the spiritual. At this point it's as if the two have become one, and while you can still have an awesome, enjoyable sex life, it almost doesn't matter any more because you have built such a bond that you couldn't get any closer. Thirty some years here!

The last part of your question is where the problem is. It is not the length of the marriage that stops the sex it is the quality of the marriage. Of course no one would want to have sex with someone they can't stand but a marriage doesn't have to end up that way. Couples need to nurture there marriage, not take it for granted
then wake up one morning and wonder why there not getting laid from the spouse they can't stand.

When you're married a certain length of time, you go through periods like that. If you truly love each other, you have to learn to take the good with the bad and work at it. Now, I don't know about the "someone you can't stand" thing. Don't make the mistake of throwing everything away just because that "spark" isn't like it used to be anymore. You'll be sorry.

Yes..but it can be renewed with effort. Marriage is work - a lot of people don't realize this...(hence the high divorce rate)

you need to change up your style or try something new if that happens....basically you've been doing the same ole' things for all that time and its time to shake it up a bit (that doesn't mean you need to be kinky or wild, just DIFFERENT!)
