You could just double click in the search bar and highlight what you want to delete, then push the delete button on the keyboard

Tools
Internet Options
Clear Cookies
Delete Files (offline)
Clear History
set days to keep pages in history to 0
There is a downside: When you delete cookies, some programs or goodies you downloaded may or may not work, pictures may or may not become X’s the next time you open the file, etc.
It’s your choice to make.
You can also:
Click Contents tab: now click the content tab, click to clear auto complete, click to clear forms.
Where it says use autocomplete, uncheck all the things you dont want your browser to store. This way you won’t have to keep going back and clearing things out.

For your google tool bar, right click in the search area and select "Clear search history". Refer to the other answer regarding clearing your cache of saved form info (that is there previous searches are stored by your browser).

In firefox this is at:
tools->options->Privacy tab->Saved Forms tab->Clear Saved Form Data Now
=)
