I have heard that in either 66 or 67 Pontiac released some special edition Lemans. They were built in conjuction with the Hurst company. With some special goodies. But I couldnt find out what they were. has anyone else heard of these? I know they had the Hurst olds. But I have never heard of a Hurst Lemans.

Dodgeman. This is interesting. The 66 or 7 Lemans I heard about had a 326 in it. So you are saying they also had Hurst editions with a straight 6 in them? Holley 4 brl. Sounds like it is the ohc 6 sprint.

HI.... Hurst Equipped .....Is the Emblem you see on a Pontiac, Buick or Old's... That is NOT and Hurst model....
1965 (Late) 1966 1967.... Could Be Tempest, LeMans, GTO, GrandPrix, any 2+2, even Bonneville... I've seen the emblem on Wagons also with 4 speeds...
To get that emblem You or the Dealer just had to ORDER just one or all of the Hurst Options for that year and you got that emblem installed also... On any Pontiac Model... Some Buicks and Old's of course... And yes if the Factory built a car for the masses and it had 1 Hurst option it got that emblem...
Shifter is the most popular, 3 spd, 4 spd, Even the Automatic Dual gate shifter 1965 66 67 You might find a emblem on a 68 but very rare.
Coolest option 1965 to 1967 .... Hurst Wheels
Or those inner front plastic wheel well inner fenders ... Red or Black for your 66 and early 67 models...
There exhaust was only sold over the Counter and for a very short time...
If you had the Ram Air option in 67 You had the emblem installed For Sure...
NO Pontiac Model cars where sent to Hurst for modification for 1965 1966 1967 1968 and SOLD as a Hurst Pontiac model....
1st Pontiac Hurst model is 1969 Pontiac Grand Prix 1 was made with 455 it was a hit....
Although Hurst Special Edition conversions are almost invariably associated with Oldsmobile 4-4-2s, a total of 489 Pontiac Grand Prixs were also converted by Hurst during the 1970-72 model years.
Unfortunately, the SSJ never received a lot of Promotion. Many dealers were unaware of its existence, or at least how to order it, even though the paperwork was easily obtainable. For this reason, the production totals were 272 units in 1970, 157 in 1971, and a mere 60 in 1972 Still a very Cool car....

According to the research that I just got through doing, the Hurst editions were limited to the GTO line. These were available in '65/'66/'67 models and had a few engine combos available. Most seemed to have the Tri-power 389. Some had Hurst emblems on the trunk and some had Cragar style wheels with Hurst emblems in the centers. This is not to say that someone couldn't have ordered a LeMans with a Hurst shifter. Anything is possible when ordering cars new from a dealership. But to have a "Hurst" edition, it had to be a GTO. I'm like you-- I had heard of the Hurst Olds, but not the Hurst Pontiac. And how can you not think of Hurst Olds (or Hurst for that matter) without thinking of Linda Vaughn? Remember her?
