DON'T !!!! Trust me, my husband worked with a girl that was warned and blocked from Internet usage, and she didn't stop so they ended up firing her !!! Apparently, they don't want you to visit that particular page, maybe none at all. I'd say if you value your job, just let it go.

You could wait until you get home.

I have similar blocking at my work, too. Some places are just not allowed for us to visit while we are at work. Other areas are allowed because we may need to research something that pertains to work.

The bosses know that some parts of the Internet can be helpful at work, but other parts are counterproductive.

Where I work, we do have a few computers set up to let us go where we want (within reason) on the Internet in our cafeteria. If your company is large enough to be able to afford a few computers in your break room or cafeteria, then you may want to discuss such an option with your manager and see if you can get the company to do something like that.

Good luck with it. Happy Holidays!

You can't as far as I know and would you want to risk it? Lots of employers are firing people for going to or even trying to get to blocked sites on company time. Keep MySpace on your computer at home and don't risk having to stand in the unemployment line! Good Luck!

you cant get in on a work computer if they have a block on it as alot of work computers do to avoid workers from surfing porn sites or other sites that aren't suitable.you could always try to take the block off or find a way around the block which wont be easy, and for the sake of losing your job, dont be stupid just wait till you get home...good luck

If it is blocked you simply can't get into it. Besides I agree with the others if your at work you need to work and look at myspace at home

I encountered this same problem once, this is how I solved it. To do this you'll have to have knowledge of Linux, and a little networking.

DISCLAIMER: I lost my job for doing this. Which actually turned out to be a good thing ;-)

1) setup a web proxy server on your Linux box at home (I used Squid)
2) setup an ssh server on your Linux box at home (sshd with most server distros). configure sshd to use port 80 (to trick your office's proxy server into letting you connect)
3) on your machine at work (assuming it runs windows) install putty.
4) Connect to your home sshd server with putty, and forward local port 8080 to remote port 8080 (that squid is running on)
5) set your work web browser's proxy to localhost:8080
6) enjoy the Internet in all it's glory

-EDIT-

I answered his question, if you are modding me down because you don't think he should do this, you are stupid. This is a Question and Answer website, not an ethical evaluation website. I'm sure if the poster cared about weather or not you think he should be going around the proxy at work, he would have asked "Is it ok if I do this?".

To all other Answer posters:
If your post was not an answer to his question you're wasting the Asker's time. Go play in traffic, and worry about ethics with your own kids who are probably engaged in bestiality while you are sitting comatose on your computer.

This has worked at my college. I dunno if it'll work for all filters.

- Go to http://www.google.com
- Search for "myspace" (without the quotes)
- On the results page, obviously MySpace will be the first item in the results. DO NOT click the link to it instead click the "cached" link; it'll show you a cached page of MySpace.
- Just enter your login info and it should log you in

You really need to ask yourself.

Is surfing a site worth facing disciplinary action? Or at worst, losing your job?

Really, think about it.

Good for your employers. Work at work, and play at home. Easy!
