Please visit my site at http://home.comcast.net/~tjhall1/pa.html to see the gif that I'm talking about. I want the background to show through the words "picture not available". I tried doing it in Photoshop but I just don't get it. Paint is worthless. The name of the file is pna.gif. No scam, no viruses. Just a site of my cabbage patch collection.

I went to your website and saved your .gif to my computer. I used Paint Shop Pro, and I think I made the background transparent for you. If you e-mail me, I can send you the .gif to try out on your webpage.

Look up a a free Program called "Giffy" Its hard to find because the website that made it is not available anymore but you can find it for download on other websites. Its a great program and can make your images transparent gifs easily. Blessings

- open you file in photoshop
- under "file" go to "save for web"
- once the save for web window has apeared you will see a bunch of options on your right
- make sure the 1st drop down menu is set to "gif"...
- 3 fields down from that you will see a check box for transparency... check that check box
- Next you have to identify the colors you want to be transparent
- on the left you will see a tool bar with 4 icons list vertically... the last icon should be an eye dropper... click on that...
- then select the color you want to be transparent on the graphic in the preview window
- once you have selected the color look at the color table on the right... that color has been selected in the color table.
- at the bottom of the color table you will see a small icon that looks like a gray checker board... it should be the farthest icon to the left... click on that...
- once you click on that you will see the color in that preview version change to a checker board... gray checker board symbolizes transparent in photoshop...
If it doesn't changed to the checker board then make sure the "optimized tab" has been selected

- then click save

Note: you can select multiple colors by holding the shift key
