Ignore them. The point of bullying is to get some reaction out of you (crying, name-calling, fighting back). Without any reaction it get boring very fast.

Bullies target the weak

But Bullies are usually insecure people themselves and I have found most to be rather 'weak' themselves.

They look for the 'meek' thinking they are the 'weak'.....

Try standing out just a little bit, blending in and remaining quiet are usually what they are looking for. Dress in a way that does not make you look like you are 3 years out of fashion, and maybe wear something that shows you are not afraid of expressing yourself.

I found that after I began wearing a sharks tooth for instance around my neck that people began noticing that I was there.

Maybe that is stupid, but most Bullies are actually 'followers' that are searching for recognition themselves. That sharks tooth seemed to portray a level of self-confidence that they recognized.

The upshot was, the girls began noticing me as well.

Stand up to a bully, don't let them know you are afraid or that they can control you that would make matters worse. Listen to the song-"I won't back down" by Tom Petty it might give you inspiration.

Learn a martial art. If it persists and you feel the need to use self defense, drop 'em and they will leave you alone. I dont condone violence at all - but I do encourage ptrotecting yourself.
