the phrase can't make ends meat,how did it come about. the phrase can't make ends meet ,which one is correct or are they two different phrases.

first off, i think you mean, "Make Ends Meet" (you used the wrong "meat" the one you used was for the kind that you eat i.e cow, pig ect.. lol)

now, the phrase "make ends meet" means that you are barely getting by. you usually are stuggiling to get things you need and so on.

The correct spelling is "meet". When both sides are short (you are poor), no matter how hard you try, you can't make ends meet. Meaning, you can't pay all your bills AND buy groceries.

make ends meet- it's like having enough money to live and survive, making ends meet
