How would you solve this scenario?

Okay....say in Fantasy City.....you had in it 2 powerful gangs....disregarding originality we'll say crips and bloods. In the past they've fueded relentlessy over who's gonna control the streets...and for a moment the crips had a hold over the bloods to the point the bloods were almost slaves to them. Well needing help, a police force well known from another city came in to help calm down the chaos in this city with seriously high crime rates. What turned out was the bloods being givin some freedom to roam the streets again. But out of vindictive hatred decided to wreak havoc on the crips. Of course, the crips, not letting this happen, retaliate. So now there is a HUGE gang war in this city. As the police force what would you do? (i'm pretty sure you can hint where i'm getting at....but maybe the different perspective may give some incite i suppose...so here goes :-). ).

Interesting response...now try and relate this to the current situation in iraq....with the sunni, and shiite...since, although not REMARKEBLY similar to my scenario...it seems to be the case NOW, and how WE are actually now a police force....

As the Police Force? I would figure out thiner main centers of operation and put armed patrols in every one of them. Anybody in violation of ANY crime there gets a trip to rehab or jail, depending. Several more covert forces around the city in the areas linking the main areas. And I would shut down any gun stores around (not literally, but just put a squad car outside each one) Roaming patrols checking all of the pawn shops (which often deal in firearms even when not licensed) set up stings of the pawn shops and firearms dealers as well- make sure they all are obeying the law to the letter.

How about this, anyone, any government, or any hostile force trying to take any American land area by force of arms will be considered an act of war, and America will retaliate with force. If the Mexican army, or a Russian special ops group, or the Iranian Red Guards took any part of one of cities by force, how do you think our Government would react? These gangs are literally taking over sections of our cities by force of arms. I suggest we send in Delta and remove them. Peacefully if they will, dead if they won't! Their choice, but I believe one go around with Delta or the Seals, or even the Marines would do it. I doubt you could find anyone wearing a red or blue headband for a long long time

The best thing to do is to weed out the surviving members of the Bloods. They are already weak and have lesser numbers. Get rid of the weaker one to concentrate on only one. This way your concentration isn't divided. Plus, while your taking out the opposition, the stronger gang isn't likely to give you trouble for doing their work.
