Whenever I turn my laptop on it freezes up at the blue windows screen. That's the screen with the windows xp logo and the blue background. It does not get as far as the user account's screen. I've tried resetting it but that did not work. What might seem to be the problem? I tried running it in safe mode but it still doesn't work. It's stuck at the same blue screen. I cannot get my desktop at all.

Sounds like you have a serious issue that you are gonna need your XP install disk...Dont format the drive, just use the REPAIR option in setup.

Sorry about that... but your windows installation is corrupted (in the best case). It might be fixed by just popping in an ERD Commander cd, or it might be completely lost. But your files still in there.. do not worry about that, they can be recovered.

In the worst case, your hard drive is failing because of bad sectors, or just a physical problem... this is very common in laptops and what you do here is to replace the hard drive.

In the worst of the very worst case.... the motherboard, is the problem and this is easily fixed by trashing the laptop and getting a new one... but do not worry... this is the most unlikely option for you.

You need a tech guy on site to fix it...
I do fix laptops and computers... but that can't be done remotely...

Good luck.
