Because we don't want to face the truth because it's not always... pleasant (for lack of a better word).
We like to delude ourselves into thinking everything really is just dandy.
In the end, we have to take a good, long look at ourselves and just admit the truth.
The first step to fixing something is to admit it's broken in the first place.

not to sound cliche, but it seems these days that everyone is obesessed with being pefect--whether it's the perfect look, job, relationship--whatever. so people put on a front to the world to make it seem that they are that way even tho they aren't. being honest with yourself is part of growing as a human being and one of the hardest things to do because you have to admit that some of the things that you wished were true about yourself aren't and that you're human like everyone else. flawed, but beautiful.
