The Colorado is really just a redesigned S-10 and even still carries the S-body designation, so it is basically a compact truck rather than a midsize.

The Dodge definitely has more power, base model has 210 hp compared to 185 for the Chevy, top model 260 compared to 242.

The Dodge will haul more weight than the Chevy,

The Chevy gets better gas mileage than the Dodge.

The Dodge has considerably more torque than the Chevy base model 235 compared to 190 and top engine 310 versus 242.

The Chevy does have a better warranty 5 year 100k drivetrain and 3/36 basic, the Dodge is 3/36 basic and drivetrain.

With all that said, since Dodge changed the front-end styling on the Dakota, I like the styling of the Colorado more than the Dakota, I would get one with the monochrome paint instead of having chrome bumpers and grille if I was going to buy one (and PLEASE do not get one with those UGLY gray claddings on it! Those make any vehicle look cheap to me).

It basically boils down to which you like better, or which of the advantages either one has are more important to you.

dodge dakota, long history of being work truck, colorado is essentially a new truck. also 5 cylinder engine is not as powerful as the v-6 in the dakota.colorado is not as big as the dakota, and technically isnt a midsize, like the dakota.dodge will ride like a truck, but thats because it is a truck, and is intended to be worked, and tow/haul on a daily basis without complaint.

I prefer Dodge's myself. They last a lot longer than a Chevy. That's just me but if you want a Chevy. I've got a 1992 Dodge Ram 150 with a 318 V8 a cherry bomb and 16" tires and rims. She was purchased in 2000 and in 2006 the transmission decided to take a big dump on me. No worries after 110,659 miles on her wouldn't you lol. I hope you choose a Dodge Dakota because Dodge's can be beaten on and will still provide good transportation. I have a $800.00 transmission sitting in the back of my bed with on 63,000 miles on her and I'm glad too. Anyways if you want to keep in contact with me here's my e-mail address it's loversboy445@yahoo.com.

My family and I have always had Chevy's and I would recommend them over all other trucks. Go for the Colorado. I have a K2500 from 1988 and its still running great.

they are no longer female autos, they only are not very intense high quality. tension one then tension a 1500 truck and notice the assessment. The 1500 is plenty extra gentle and has much extra area and area interior. i could reccomend a 1500, I very own one and that's super, a Toyota Tundra. I drove a Tacoma, however the fee became close and tundra is plenty nicer.

Dakota, they last, Small/Midsized Chevy trucks are garbage, they don't last. honestly, got with a Ranger or a B4000, they are good, they will last, ans won't break down
