I had a cyst removed on my chest about 6 weeks ago and the doctor put me on antibiotic for a week. A week later, the removal the stitches were removed. Two weeks after the stitches were removed, the incision area did not look right to me. It looked like a fresh pink wound ( like when a scab falls off). I went to the doctor and he cauterized the area and said that a stitch had been left in and he removed it and put me on doxycycline antibiotic. The next week I saw two string looking things poking out and the area still looked like a fresh wound so I went back he said that the disolvable stitches did not disolve so he removed the two hanging out. So now this week, the area still still looks like a fresh wound and I am still on the antibiotic twice a day. I don't know if I am paranoid and that I should just take the doctors word that it will be fine or should I go see another doctor.

Is the wound pink or bright red? If red you should go see the doctor. If it is just pink and the edges are well approximated and there isnt a lot of swelling or pain then it should be fine. Also check if you have temperature. If you really feel uncomfortable about it then go see the doctor, it doesnt hurt to be safe. I hope this helps

Don't use hydrogen peroxide it will destroy all the granulation or scar tissue you have built up. It is only ment for infected wounds and should still only be used in half strength for that. You are taking anitbiotics so I'm still not sure if the wound is infected or not

I definitely wouldn't return to that doctor.

I would recommend putting peroxide on it at least once a day. If there is an infection, the peroxide will kill it and help the 'wound' area to heal up.

Also, if you haven't treated it with vitamin E or anything like that to remove any scarring, it probably will remain pink for a little while. At this point, you could probably put neosporin on it to help scarring and healing.

If by the end of the week it still doesn't look like you're healing, call a different doctor.

I think you might be just a little bit paranoid. I had spinal fusion surgery a little over six months ago, and my incision was a purplish, bruised color for about 2 months after surgery. It's still a pinkish-red line, but it's fading quickly. My doctor looked at it a little over a month ago and said it was healing well.

However, I do think your doctor is a bit negligent. If you've had to go back twice to have more stitches removed, that is not a good sign. You might still want to switch to a more capable doctor.

My 6 week old wound was found to be a SOURCE of BONE INFECTION due to a wound that looked "fresh" and neglect of the doc to do anything but give me anti biotics.... peroxide is a good idea, but alcohol would really do better to kill surface infection. Your cyst may also be deeper than the doc removed....SWITCH to a different DOCTOR.
