Electric fish were used in medicine by the ancient Romans,
well before electricity was invented.
What they called it - I do not know. You could look
in ancient medical texts if you really wanted to
know, but it'd be in Latin.

The probability of it is that they didn't discover the electric eel until long after electricity was discovered...so it doesn't really matter.

that has always been around
and so has electricity
it is how most people braincells work
