SRV... hands down. I'll always love B.B. King, but SRV does something to my insides. Ever heard (of course you have) Red House? Ahhhhhh...

I would consider Mississippi Fred McDowell the best blues guitar player ever. I think he laid down the method for making the sound clear and sweet and distinctive. It's really too bad that many of the earlier recordings are on vinyl. Digital technology really does a lot for blues music. Johnny Lang, at 16, recorded many of McDowell's music in the 1990's. Lang comes very close to McDowell in my book.
Listen to both versions of "Good Morning, Little Schoolgirl," and let me know what you think!

There are many styles of blues, and different masters of each. There's Delta Blues (old school, like Willie Dixon, Robert Johnson and John Lee Hooker). There's Memphis Blues, like Furry Lewis, Albert King and B.B. King (no relation). There's Texas Blues, like SRV and Joe Bonamassa (white boy from upstate NY, and one of my favorites-check him out). So many styles and masters. In that way, blues is like jazz. Enjoy!

Now this is a hard question for me..I love B.B.King's music, and no doubt, he is a living legend, but Eric Clapton, well, I love his music also.
