Can I dye my assortment of real white corals different colors safely for my saltwater fish? If so, how?

Most of my corals are plain white and real (of course, no longer live). I want to dye them with dyes that won't harm the fish or invertibrates in the salt water tank. Suggestions?

I think the salt water would leach out all of the color, but food color I think would be the safest. Soaking in it until you get the color you like. This is just an idea and I don't know how long the color would hold.
