It seemed weird to me since the food could attract silver fish which then chow down on the glue in book bindings. Nevertheless, most of the book store chains are now doing it. If you are thinking of putting one in, then try to restrict the operation to beverages only just in case the silver fish thing is valid. That way, you'll be last person standing.

yes totally! if you have a cafe in a book shop then people can sit down and read the books the bought or are wanting to bye and so the book store gets more buissness.

Barnes & Noble, Borders, Books-a-Million...even some libraries have cafes now. You almost have to have one to compete.
