Why does he have to carry his food half way across the room to eat it, instead of eating it out of the dish?

Maybe they are looking for a safe place to eat. My dog always came from the kitchen to the living room with a piece of food in her mouth because we were there I think. She wouldn't eat her food while we were eating in the kitchen. She was looking for human food handouts probably. then as soon as we left the room she would start her little ritual. We used dry food after we had an awful time getting the stains fron the other stuff off the rugs

well the dog is a dog and he likes to eat where it pleases him so he walks away and maybe sometimes he gets destracted and walks around and then goes back he is a dog aslo, in the wild they didnt eat out of a dish.

Dogs like to do things to piss their masters off. Very few dogs are actually happy with there living arraingements. Try not to let your dog see you react to his moveing his food.He may stop when he realizes that nobody is watching him. Dogs can sense when you are not happy.Maybe you should try something new or different in the old dog bowl. Maybe some meat drippings or table scraps once in a while. Good luck.

he is a dog, basically that is why. my dog does it too. perhaps they bring it in to share with us (even when we are not there). just a dog thing.
