I don't think so but that name is famous because of the black boy that was brutally murdered.

Emmett Till.

No name is necessarily African-American. Also, considering the only people I know of named Emmett are Emmitt Smith and Emmett Till, but that's not really a reason to assume the name is an African-American name.

No it's an old american name of white heritage.
There is no such thing as african american. Should all whites call themselves european americans?
Another example of such stupitidy is leroy.
It's thought of by many as a black name but there are no leroys in africa or anywhere but america. It's a derivitive form leo meaning the king .
Blacks do not have a special relationship with names as many think, In fact so many blakcs have sought non american sounding names that they have become the laughing stock of the world.
Many blacks have inevertingly named their child names which they thought were specoial african with no knowledge of the african dialects. Thus many children are ending up with names that mean such things in africa as dog ****, nasty, rhino pee, guts, ulgy one ect. It's silly what they have done to their children.

You mean real names for boys that actually come from Africa or the made-up names a lot of people use here? I cannot say that I know of any. Try looking up authentic names from Africa on the internet.

Wow, please tell your husband I think he is a racist pig.
You have the right to name your baby anything you want to! If you wanted to name a girl Jamiqua, you can! If some1 says it's a "black girl's name" then tell them to back off!
