I don't think they are as racist as they used to be.

I remember the days of separate drinking fountains, schools, sections in movie theaters.

That's not to say there aren't racists, because they are. Some people feel disenfranchised so try to bring someone done to a lower level than themselves. Some are trying to gain attention by shocking people they talk to. Some are scared. Some are stupid. Some are ignorant. Some were raised in an environment where it was expected or demanded. Many racists lack self-confidence and are cowards.

It's nice to know that people are so concerned about racism, or sexism, and various other isms, but its sad that it still continues.

Good luck and take care.

Ok, first of all some people will always look down on others to make themselves feel better, the ones who make fun of the heavy set kid on the play ground, or the slow person in a slower paced class than the rest, its all to compensate for something they're lacking or some form of attention they're craving, that that one kid is getting, so they have to make a big deal out of trying to lower the other persons self esteem, same with racism to try and better themselves!!! I can't say it all about everything that's wrong in this world, but it's only satin trying to work his way into more and more peoples lives and in some cases succeeding. We're all equal in the eyes of God!!!

Actually I think the "silent majority" are less racist today as many people are becoming better educated about different cultures and the world is getting smaller and smaller. Races are necessarily having to work together and communicate. It's just that people who are racists are somewhat ignorant and tend to want their voice to be heard.

I don't know why. I do know that it is wrong to assume soem one is a racist because they disagree with you.
An example two guys at work were discussing racism (one black and one white) the white guy said he thought it was wrong to use the word ****** and asked why blacks still used it so much to described each other. The black guy said he didn't see anything wrong wiht it and if black rappers used it or blacks in general it was ok as long as whites didn't say it. another black guy heard them discussing it and reported this to the personel manager who also being blakc fired the white guy without reason or explaination other than calling him a racist. I would have sued him and the company.
It's usually the stupid racists them selves who do the complaining, and causing trouble.
Check out oprah if you want ot see a true racist in my opinion.

racist people are generally bitter. Any problems they are facing, they like to put the blame on someone else of a different nationality than themselves, plus racist people are extremely jealous and are constantly comparing their life to someone else. That is not a good thing. People need to be satisfied with what talents they have.

I just posted a similar question a few minutes before you. if you haven;t read it check it out.
I think racism is sick, and one thing that I feel a lot of white racist dont know is that somewhere down the line (especially if they're from the south) they have black in them. we ALL have a mixture in us, so i feel if you hate anyone for race, you really hate yourself. I know everyone isn't christian, but if you are, pray for those people. Thats really all you can do these days.

Stupidity like poverty, death and taxes is unlikely to go away soon?

Does it suck? Yes, but what can you do.

I don't think there are more racists than before, I honestly believe there are less but its hard to prove and depends on where you are.

If you have racial polarization, say an ethnic conflict or a huge difference in wealth between ethnic groups in an area, it often leads to racism.

There are a handful of actual racists, but most of the time it's the wrong people falsely calling them that, not wanting to admit that they're wrong.

People always look for scape goods, to blame for their short comings and misfortunes in life.

Prejudice, racism, discrimination, xenaphobia (whatever you want to call it! Is the last refuge of scoundrels, aspiring for that ugly thing called privilige (elitism)!
