I would recommend getting a new computer because inless you have pentium 4 965 overclocked it is not going to be good for gaming. The pentium 4 is old and most new computer games are very demanding on the cpu and the gpu. I would recommend buying a new computer with more memory atleast 1 gig for gaming and atleast 128 mb of memory on your graphics card. The pentium 4 is old you need to upgrade. Very good prices on ebay.

There are a lot of things. First i would make sure you have atleast 1 GB of ram, also your computer could be slow because of a full harddrive, you could have a virus, you may need to defragment your harddrive.
another big thing is your video card. if the game needs 32 MB graphics card you should have a 64 MB, i would personally go no lower than 256 MB grapgics card.
It could jsut be the games, a lot of games now require faster computer to run them.

Free up RAM before you attempt a download.
Remove wallpaper and set screensaver to none.
Close any unnecessary open programs.
However, if you have dialup, it will take forever. I switched from dialup to cable. What used to take 1/2 hour now takes 3 minutes.

try increasing your memory. 504mb is probably too small for the types of games your trying to run. Read the requirements on the box. If your barely meeting the minimum requirements, that's most likely your problem.

504MB Memory is not enough for the latest game nowadays.... furthermore u need to add a graphic card coz from a "small" spec you given, you're sharing your graphic memory do u?
