I just bought a brand new car last Monday. Today in a parking lot, someone parked next to me and let their door hit my passenger side door. It left paint from their car on my door. The scratches aren't deep--it looks like paint from their door just rubbed off onto mine, but it still looks bad. My car is red, their's was dark green so it's very obvious. What can I use to buff out these paint marks without further damaging the finish on my car door?

By the way, if you ever do this to someone's car, be decent and leave a note offering to fix it, or at least apologizing. It feels awful to buy a brand new car and then less than a week later have some rude, clumsy jerk mark it up and just drive away. Gotta love that holiday spirit.

When I parked my car, the spot next to my passenger side was empty. Whoever it was came and went while I was in the store. Did you learn a lesson mister ss? Don't assume.

Forget the rubbing compound. your car is newer and has a clear coat just get a good wax and work on that spot for a few minutes not to hard and it will come off. your care was most likely waxed before you bought it and will come of easy.I agree And my Friends get mad because I drop them at the door and park in the boonies

Yes with a little rubbing compound and a nice electric buffer.. or maybe by hand. I hate to tell you this no matter how careful you are ... and i was with my car.. someone sooner or later is going to do this again and again and again..the best protection is never park out anywhere..keep it in a heated garage.. lol thats what I did the first six years of my cars life..

Head over to Auto Zone (or any auto parts store) and get some rubbing compound. Take elbow grease, but you can make it look brand new again.

Depends on now deep they are. Try using rubbing compound and a buffer, but be careful of not not to burn the paint by pressing too hard on the buffer.

more than likely regular wax with some elbow grease will take it off, did you learn a lesson? don't park your car close to other cars if you don;t have to.
