Well now that you have found Yahoo answers you could while away the day on here. I am semi-retired and my days are absolutely filled with all sorts of activity. I get out and walk and boat, garden, clean house, take pictures, catalogue old pictures, have lots of 360 friends and play in Yahoo answers, play Scrabble, watch a movie every few days at home, talk on the phone, golf, fish. You may be rural but I would think you must be within 100 miles of some recreational or cultural activities. I never look at the ceiling. I always find stuff to do.

wow--lucky you, i think. but my dad recently retired and seems to be in a similar situation. i would try to get on some sort of routine. i guess at first it's kind of overwhelming and maybe even a little nerve-racking to retire. but once you get in some sort of routine, i'm sure you'll learn to love it. i would wake up around 8. exercise 30 minutes or so. then drink several cups of coffee, turn on the tv, play around online ... take a shower at some point. fix and eat a nice lunch. do errands, grocery shopping, clean house, etc. until dinner time. then i would fix a big meal. by that point, it would be time to start winding down for the evening. i would also get some projects started ... remodeling projects and the like. my dad spends a lot of time golfing which he seems to enjoy. good luck with it. it sounds like a blissful existence to me.

That was mostly decided before retirement. "This is what I'm going to do...because it's what I really wish I could be doing now if I wasn't stuck raising the kids or working my *** off."

Of course, a lot of us then realize, "OK, that wasn't quite as cool as I thought it was going to be...what was that other idea I had?"

"Oh, yeah. Sex."

"Honey, where's the damn Viagra?"
