Does anyone know the tradition of sprinkling this stuff on your lawn to get snow for Christmas?

I remember getting a baggie of something and sprinkling it on Christmas Eve on my lawn wishing for a white Christmas. I was wondering if there was a poem to go with this and what goes in the baggie. I did it 2 times and I remember it worked! I know it is superstitious but I want a tradition with my kids.

Whew!!!!!! Wish I could help. The only white stuff I remember pouring on my lawn was accidental..and wow...my grass/lawn was high for a week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
