I need to build a light, resistant, giant chess rook. I need some material that I can cut and glue easily. Where can I find such material? (paper and styrofoam won't work - I need something stronger).

I would make a framework first, you could probably use hardware cloth for that, or chicken wire. Bend and wire it into the shape that you want , then cover that with fabric.

Sounds like a fun project!

More info would help me answer this. What is this for? How much are you willing to spend? Why the limitations on what can be used? As of right now I can only suggest expensive methods such as fiberglass, make a plastic cast using a vaccume board etc..

Hi:

Check the Mcmasters website: they deal with industrial materials and supplies

www.mcmasters.com

However Wood , Plastic or Fiberglass will work just fine for this so will bond dough but you have to be quick when using this.

For this project you will need a material that will stretch. I would suggest a stretch polyester, room darken fabric.
