Depends on the output your laptop has.
If your laptop has S-Video out, a converter cable at your local shop will do just fine.
If your laptop only has monitor out, you'll need a converter device to format it so a TV can accept it. These are also pretty common at shops, but not quite as much so within the past few years. (Since most new laptops have SVideo out)

there are a few types of AV connectors RGB, Composite, Component, S-video, DVI ,SCART ect ect u neet to know what format your video card is outputting and see if you tv will support the same format input. im guessing when you say normal you mean composite (normally 1 yellow video RCA plug and 2 red and white audio) if so S-video to RCA cable is easy to find.

almost any electronics save will carry the cable you want, in the adventure that your pc has an s-video jack it is what i imagine you stated then you actually favor an s-video to av enter cord. if you're runninig a cable that plugs right into a slot that you may hook you pc to a exhibit screen with then you really want a exhibit screen out to av enter cord. desire this helps, sturdy day. Why do you won't to connect the computer to the TV?.... is it so you can have a bigger screen? if it is it won't work. you can't connect your computer to the TV direct you will need to get a video box that goes between the tv and your computer and that will only work if your doing some video editing

you can buy -cheaper way is buy break out cable which convert s-video to composite OR you can do it urself.s-video connector has 4pins- two signal(Y,C)pins and two ground pins. You combine singals to signal pin, ground pins to ground pin..you can connect directly to TV.
