A couple Weeks ago My Weather Loach took ill.

I used Malafix as he was often on his side on the bottom of the tank.

after a week hes no longer on his side BUT, Now his long body is twisted.
He can still swim but not as graceful.

What do you think this could be and do you think there will be any long term effects on his growth and development.

I have two weather loaches, I have had them for quite a while, very lovely fish. I have never ran into health problems with my weather loaches, but I know many people that have. They are experts in caring for these loaches, and here's where you can go ask them this question: www.loaches.com
There are people there that have cared for weather loaches for 30 years or more, and they have seen it all, fixed it all and learned it all. I'll promise you, the answer will be there. They've solved all my other loach problems (clowns, kubotia...)

I am not really sure. I have a loach also that was perfectly fine and a few months after getting him he started looking all twisted. He has now been that way for 2 yrs and seems to be doing fine. I also had used Melafix in my tank. Seeing you also used it I wondering if maybe the Melafix did something to them but don't know I have two other loaches that are just fine. Good luck in your search on this. Would love some feed back if you find the cause and or solution.

he might have fish tuberculosis... you might want to separate him from the rest of the fish... and wash your hands carefully after handling the loach..

I think it might be because of genetic problems. His/Her parents might had had the same problems and it was passed on
