Uh! I think I'm missing out with the females here. I have not had any PMSing in my entire existence. Doest that mean I'm not normal? LOL

But I've read it's the hormones and it's really a pity if some women uses them as an excuse. I really hope not.

TO different ANSWERERS: PMS (pre-mentstrual syndrome) is the scientific term for PMT (pre-mentstrual stress). the two are maximum appropriate words, however the use relies upon the place you're from. interior the united kingdom, anybody calls it PMT, so end asserting 'shows how little you comprehend'. Dan's not incorrect for asserting PMT. i don't think of it extremely is a valid excuse. i'm slightly extra pissed off when I surely have PMT, and function a shorter fuse, even though it extremely is not like it extremely is out of control. i've got not met a girl that suffers from it undesirable sufficient to be an excuse.

I agree with "Chuckler".....It's getting old. Any questions concerning chemistry of the body and hormones, look it up first.
Hmmmm....Is testosterone all in the head?
But, alas, since I can't resist a good armchair chemistry lesson. During the week referred to as "PMT" in a woman's cycle, her "female" hormones go down in the body and her "male" hormones rise. In other words, chemically speaking, women are behaving as men and the bottom line is, men don't like it.
The influx of "male" hormones isn't something the female body is predominately used to and therefore, the rise can be detrimental.
Usually cutting out meat, dairy and white sugars and taking on exercise for the week leading up to the usual symptoms will lessen the severity.
It isn't up to women to use a claim of "PMT" to get in or out of a court case, it is up to the courts to educate themselves and understand.
People try to make excuses for our "differences", as in, your attempt with this question but actually the reality is usually quite boring or simple.
Sorry to burst your bubble but you DID ask for it.

Back in early human life women were either pregnant, nursing, or too old to due either. So women did not get their menstrual cycle every month, in fact they rarely got it most of their life. Now we live in an age were women choose not to be (constantly) pregnant. Because of this they have their periods once a month, which their bodies really aren't used to. A menstrual cycle is physically and mentally draining.

Does it affect the mind, probably. Hormones affect women just like they affect men. Should men get away w/rape because of hormones that they can't control?

The only justificaiton for any crime, ie murder, is defense.

There are, of course, only three types of PMT.
1] Pre-menstrual Tension, which occurs prior to menstruation
2] Post-menstrual tension, which occurs following menstruation.
3]Perhaps I'm going to have menstrual tension, which occurs at any time.
Each of these cycles lasts for about one week, which leaves one week of the cycle in which the female is receptive to the male.
But, of course that's when she's "on"

"Syndrome" - "Tension" - who, but a woman would be so definitive?

We all know what was signified.

Perhaps your female respondents are "suffering" from PMT/S

Oh! PMS. D'oh! Typo, huh? Premenstrual Syndrome. One question for you before i answer that. Are you having problems with a gf or wife who suffers PMS?

Anyways, No, it's not an excuse, nor is it in their minds. Many women do suffer, some more extreme than others. I've seen some women turn in to extreme demons during their pre-menstrual. You don't want to see it.

As a man, you either have to be supportive, understanding, helpful, etc., (or all) during this time... Of course, for any man to understand what i mean, you have to absolutely love your wife/or gf to understand this paragraph.

Which brings me to the next question. Is there any reason why you would suggest that it might be "just in the minds of women"? I'm curious to know if you're just asking this question to get some of the guys up in arms who think they "need reasons" to keep hating women... ;)) Hah!!

its not all in the mind, as at certain times of the month, I feel so different and bad tempered......emotional and irrational..however, I dont believe it can be used as an excuse for commiting crime, as we have to be accountable for our own actions whatever time of the month it is. It is very difficult sometimes, but to commit an act of murder and use PMT as the reason, is wrong as far as im concerned.

Yes, you are politically incorrect Bad Boy; however, wind up the women until their teeny tiny little springs almost burst. LOL
Being out of control for that certain time every month, may explain why they aren't taken as seriously as they would like. It's ashame, honestly, that the hormonal changes are so severe, and they are so unable to cope. (maybe this is an undeserved criticism, but applies to every young woman I know who is still menstruating, and then WATCH OUT for THE CHANGE and the real dragon women appear.

Is PMT Playing with My Testicles? Maybe you should go ask some men about that one.

You men don't know what you are talking about. Its not in the mind and the word is PMS=Premenstrual cycle and each month I feel aggravated, irritable, tired and cranky and I can feel myself feeling this way and I can't really stop it and every little things aggravate me like my husband and children and I just want to be left alone. If any of you guys went through this, you would think twice before speaking and thinking its all in our heads. We don't need any excuse for our behaviors, we can feel any way we want to.
