Okay, is it true that the Linksys SpeedBooster router doesn't work if your wireless card isn't speedbooster as well? Also, is the intel pro/wireless 3945ABG compatible with it?

You are right.
Speedbooster is just a marketing tag on the Linksys boxes so people buy more of their stuff.
But you have to get both... the base and the antena with "Speedbooster" in order to gain the claimed speeds....

Actually, it won't make any difference in speed for your internet connection, because your connection to the internet is just too small even for an old 11Mb wireless card...
The difference can only be seen if you are transfering a lot of files (large ones), among other PCs in your same network (home).
For this purpose of transfering large stuff at home, a wired network (100Mbps) is the best option.

Your intel adapter is compatible with the Linksys... do not worry about that.
Good luck

Ditto with what axo said.

Your card is compatible, most wireless adapter are compatible with most wireless routers. B devices will work with G because G routers were made to work with B & G. Your adapter will even work with an N router, except it won't get some of the features that come with the N technology.

The speedbooster router will work with both G and B cards, no matter what brand. Its suppose to give better wireless speed using a wireless adapter with speedbooster. But remember it doesn't expand the range.

Its partly marketing, I guess.

If you need to download something really big, really fast - do it wired. Wireless isn't perfect, and is still prone to interference.
