HCTZ Hydrochlorothiozide diuretics. Diuretics are a class of medicenes mostly used for High blood pressure but also they are used to remove excess liqiud from the body. Diuretics are substances natural or synthetic which removes excess fluid from the body and discourage fluid bulid up in general. HCTZ is POTASSIUM DEPLETING. About 2 years ago this particular drug once was part of a combination drug called LOTREL. It originally contained Lisonopril, amlopidine, and HCTZ. They've since removed it from the formula because Amlopidine is a calcium channel blocker and Lisonipril is an ACE Inhibitor(ANGIOTENSIN CONVERTING ENZYME-Produced in the kidneys and is blood vessel constricting) ACE inhibitors SPARE Potassium which can be life threatening if you have Kidney Disease because ACE is produced in the Kidneys inhibiting this function can and will affect kidney function if you are on this drug too long. HCTZ's Natural function contradicted Lisonipril so it was removed. If you are using HCTZ be sure to have your liver & kidney levels checked and make sure you take Potassium or eat Potassium rich foods. If this is a curiosity and you feel you need a diuretic there are Natural Alternatives like KB-11 which is an herbal Diuretic Blend put out by NATRUADE, WATER FACTORS FROM COUNTRY LIFE-BIOCHEM,DANDELION ROOT,BUCHU LEAF,AND GREEN TEA are natrual diuretics. Another product TARAXATONE a diuretic fave in the Bodybuilding circuit which is trade name for standardized Dandelion Root you can get at the Vitamin shoppe for $26 is really good too. To be on the safe side please check with your Doctor to make sure that HCTZ is right for you because HCTZ has side effects like most medications do. I hope this was helpful.

Where did you get it? Just picking up random pills wondering if they're ok to take? Please don't try to guess what it is and just throw it away.
