I know this isn't politics, but the culture & politics & fatness are so intertwined, it just makes sense to post here.

I simply can't get over how fat everybody is getting. Will the Earth start to wobble? Will this be the straw that triggers a "health-care crisis" that is used as a rationale for national (socialized) medicine?

Can't we get some damned self-control?

No we cant. Apparently everything is a disease
Smoking cigarettes is an addiction, overeating is an addiction, having a drinking problem is an addiction, being a jerk is anger management problems.
People in this country need some freaking self control and personal responsibility thats what they need.
Oh and they could try walking somewhere that might help a little.

I'm not fat so I need no self control. Calm down man, If too much food is a problem we must be doing something right.

I don't think it is about self control. I suspect it is a deep and growing sadness coupled with our increasing exposure to advertising, whose primary message is to make everyone feel inadequate so that they will consume more. And of course we are spending more and more time indoors and not exercising.

I think the food is obviously part of the problem.

The lack of physical work is the other.

If there is anything needed, it is more kindness and civility in the world. If you are not over-weight, be glad.
