Could be lots of reasons, if your thermostat is in a place near a door, the temp will fluctuate a lot and cause it to cycle. Or if the furnace is new it might be too large and it quickly warms the place up.

I think you mean it is short cycling. This is caused by several things. First of all you need to know the proper cycle of the furnace. First the gas comes on or electric. heat then the blower comes on to dispurse the heat and the heat goes off then the blower turns off. If the heat starts and the blower does not it goes off on a high temp. limit switch This is located under the front cover about 6 inches above the burners. It has two wires going to it. If this is the case connect the two wires together for one cycle. If this fixes it you need a new limit switch. You can buy one at a parts house or grainger. Good luck

A. Thermostat may be faulty/improperly installed/located in worse place in home.
B. Change the filter if you havent.(Change every 6 months.)
C. Read up on short cycling, you might have the wrong size furnace for your home. Installers might have screwed you, for money.

It could need a good maintnance check up and you might need a new thermastat on the wall.... sounds like it needs to be fine tuned, I gave mine new filters and vaccumed it good and got a new therm for on the wall and mine is doing a great job now... Just an idea from a lady who likes to save a little money lol mine may not be the best answer but it is a start ... Good Luck to you Happy Heating
