I think it sucks that we have to say "Holidays" instead of "Christmas", cos I'm a Christian. I mean, they don't do this to holidays from other cultures, do thay? They don't tell Muslims not to talk about Ramadan in public, they don't tell African Americans not to say Kwanzaa out loud, and Jewish people can freely talk about Hannakah. (Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against the 3 groups that I just mentioned, I'm just trying to make my point clear) So why on Earth aren't Christians allowed to say "Christmas"? I mean, they say that we force our religion on others. But they clearly don't care about pushing their views on us in schoo. But anyway, I agree with you. I think someone is offended by the word "Christmas", then they shouldn't be celebrating the holiday. That's why it's called Christmas. To celebrate the birth of CHRIST. Hence his name in the first half of the word. Come on, people!

This is simple, if you are refering to America. America is a melting pot, which means different cultures and people from different races live here. Around December Christmas is not the only Holiday celebrated, as for example Chanukah is celebrated. So when a person says " Happy Holidays" they refer to what ever holiday the person would celebrate. It should also be noted, that Christians are not the only ones living in America. There are other people who worship their religion here as well as those who do not worship at all...and its their choice...regardless of what anyone thinks or says.
Everyone has the right to their own religion in this country, but one must understand that we all share this country. That is why it is not good for a US Government, State Government or City Government show Favortism to one particular religon, as it is unfair to those who are not of that religon. It might even be considered an insult.
Just because one religious group has more members than others does not mean we should favor that group more. America is the home of the free... and we have something called the bill of rights. You might want to read this document.
It allows you to practice your religion the way you wish without stepping on other people's practices.

It's Christmas. It alway's has been, unfortunately people decide to waste thier time fighting meaningless battles because their "feelings are hurt" and their "offended" . Unfortunately too many minoritys feel as though their "slighted" Which is completely and utterly stupid, Christmas is more for the children and creating a magical sense of wonder for the kids as an over all theme. However, there is also a very spiritual side to it, if you choose to worship Jesus Christ then you do so, if not, then don't. Do you really see something wrong with wishing merryment to people in this war torn world we live in?

America is a country that was founded by White Christians. Most traditions that they had became a part of our culture. Now, we do let in people of other races and creeds, but they have to tolerate and adapt to American culture. The Bill of Rights promises Freedom OF Religion, not Freedom FROM Religion. There is also Freedom of Speech, not Freedom to Speak whatever is Politically Correct and Not Offensive. I always say "Merry Christmas". If someone is offended by that, they do not have to speak to me and ruin my Christmas spirit.
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a goodnight. ;-)

my friend, being jewish (which you seem to have some problem with, get a grip or get some help, seriously) i can honestly say that i have no problem with people wishing me a merry christmas.
however, as i don't believe in jesus and don't celebrate christmas, i find it much POLITER of them to say happy holidays or notice that what i'm buying at their store is not a christmas tree but a lot of chanukah-themed wrapping paper.
you people seriously need to stop griping about how there's a war on christmas. talk about a war on diversity here. i don't have a problem with christmas but if people want to be nice to everybody, they'll try to accomodate other people BESIDES christians.
as for "don't put tree there" religious symbols should not be on civic grounds, like city hall or libraries. churches are openly proclaiming their christianity already, that's not a problem, but it does become a problem when it's government land.
saying "merry christmas" isn't a tradition that should be protected and respected, because it's a courtesy, not a tradition. celebrating the birth of jesus is being perfectly respected. being nice to people who aren't christian the same way you are being nice to christian people is just polite...kind of like saying merry christmas is being polite.
STOP COMPLAINING. respect other people. we respect you until you start complaining about nothing.
