My Fiance and I are both 44 and will be married soon. My children are grown and out of the house. He has never been married, and does not have any children. We have decided to adopt a baby. Should we think about adopting a baby in America, or from another country? Tell us your thoughts!

EITHER OR!!! It is really all in fates hands, but if you truly want a baby, you will get him/her no matter where they are from.

I know that it is always great to get a baby girl from China, as couples in china are only allowed to have one child...preferably a male, so if it is a female on the first shot, they will either KILL her or give her up for adoption. So if you adopt her, you will not only be saving her life, but giving her an opportunity that she would never else have. Plus, they are absolutely GORGEOUS and have AWESOME hair!!!! Not that it matters...but what a great bonus!!! I am sure you would give a great home to whom ever you end up having in your life!
Best Wishes!!!

It's up to you. There is a lot of people that think "Hey, we've got a lot of kids that need homes here in America, why would you bring a child over from another country?" I think those people don't understand the conditions of orphanages in these third world countries. It can sometimes easier to adopt an infant if you go outside the country.
However, I would like to make a suggestion:
Why don't you adopt an older child here in the states? A two or three year old child will most likely not be adopted at all and will have to live in a state home or be shuttled around to foster homes for their whole lives simply because they weren't cute little babies when their parents decided to give them up. Most people that adopt want an infant, so these kids aren't given the opportunity to have a stable loving home.

It depends on what you're trying to do other than just have a kid for the sake of a child. If your idea for adoption is to help a child as well as enjoy parenting think of who will benefit more. A child from anywhere will benefit regardless if you're good parents. But a child from the third world probably would need it more in terms of life quality if not adopted virsus an orphan in the US. I say adopt abroad in a country that has famine and stricken by poverty. You'd be saving one child from that area. I mean you have so many choices and make sure you do your research. international adoptions are less costly compared to national adoptions.

I think that you should adopt a child from this country, because there are thiousands of children in need of homes in this country and it seems like no one is intrested inthem everyone wants children from other countries, even the movie stars adopt from other countries, why not help the children who are here first, Good Luck with your baby either way you decide

Cool! Adopting a child is a big deal, and you're helping out with the community and giving a child a nice, clean home. I think that's wonderful. However, wether or not this baby should be from America or another country is completly up to you.

i would consider adopting a older child.. mainly because of the age thing,, are you really wanting to get up a 2 in the morning with a small baby.. plus adopting a older harder to place child will make it a lot faster.. i am not saying teenager but maybe one around 4 or 5

I was adopted from over sea's..It took my Mother 2 yrs before she got me.. I think it's like $40,000 adopting from a different Country..And how soon or not you get the child all depends how fast the paper work gos threw. If you do adopted from a diff Country make sure you keep the child close to his/her original roots. My family didn't and it was very hard as i got older.....

Adopt waiting children out of the foster care system. They need good homes and good parents. Do you need a baby? If you adopt older kids, their friends will be closer to your age. If you adopt a baby, your kid's friends parents will be your kids' ages.

I would adopt from another country personally. Because it is faster (you can wait for years over here). Also because you are helping someone who has less of a chance of being adopted

Adopt a baby from a very poor country. You will have the satisfaction of doing one noble deed in life.
