Why do you think they call him Little Saint Nick? First of all, the man isn't LITTLE. Eats a few too many Christmas cookies if you ask me. SECOND, SAINT? Last time I checked you had to have helped out a slew of people in the community and tho I guess handing out presents to "all the good little girls and boys" is great and all, I think he neglected to remember some children who litterally have nothing, so how is he a saint again? And his Nick his name? I thought his name was Chris Cringle! Can anyone help me out with this one? I want answers!

You obviously haven't been reading ALL the St. Nicholaus/Santa Claus stuff on here! "Little" refers to the fact that in the original poem "the night before christmas" Santa Claus (aka St. Nickolaus) was described as a "jolly old elf". Since elves are reportedly very small (how else do you fit down chimneys) here is your original of "little". "Saint Nicholaus" is a REAL PERSON, a Catholic Saint, who did indeed do wonderful things for his community while he was alive as a bishop in the area known as Holland nowadays. Therefore "St. Nick" is a contraction of his full name of "Nicholaus" and where "Santa Claus" comes from. Kris Kringle actually never originally had anything to do with St. Nicholas. In German, Kris Kringle is a corruption of the words that translate into "Christ Child".
