Is astrology (star signs) in any way related to the new age movement or the aztec tribe?

im sure i read a new age site that used a calender of the aztecs or simaler tribe and predicted an astroid, maybe im up the wrong tree, enlighten me.

The type of astrology the Aztec used is earth based (calendar based), not unlike the system of Chinese astrology. Really, it's not connected at all to what most people think of as "astrology" (sun signs, Gemini, etc).
Most people who talk about New World astrology are talking about the Maya, not the Aztecs, and they are talking about the Long Count Calendar, which isn't astrology, it's a simple count. The 12th Baktun (a period of Mayan time equaling about 396 of our years) is ending in 2012 and the 13th Baktun starts 12-21-2012, on the same day as a grand once-in-26,000 year astroNOMical (NOT astroLOGical) alignment between the rising sun and the Milky Way, which to the Maya means the birth of a new Sun.
