Depression yes, but what is the root? Something is missing, and the shopping is the only way they see to fill the void. This person needs to feel validated, and in order to get them to the point where they see value in themselves - he/she should see a counselor. If you can continue to be a support, please do so. When he/she comes out of the depression they will thank you for being a good friend. good luck.

Your question should be 'How do you get rid of.I hope your not married to this clunk of dead meat. Your know I really don't want to say this, however this person has gotten away with using you and yes, abusing you. She turns on water works or gets mad. Man ,do you want to live your life and grow old with this crap. She is suppose to be your helpmate.Bottom line here is she does an about face and makes this thing work or it's over now. Expect a reaction. Let her cry a river, or break things with her anger and when she's done say "That's it change or else.
God Bless You ! Put it in His Hands !
Merry Christmas & Happy Christmas to you and yours.

This sounds like my ex husband. He did not work (he said he was disabled) and did nothing all day. I would come home from work and have to do everything. I did home repairs, maintenance, house work, paid the bills, and took him to the doctors or hospital. I had no time for myself. He had medication for his "depression" while I suffered through without. He finally inherited some cash and was suddenly able to live on his own. We divorced and I felt so wonderful and free.

They have something missing in their lives, something they want or need dearly the spending and the temper is just their way of getting out that they are frustrated and angered about.
You need if you can sit down and calmly talk to them, if they get angry just keep your cool and really try to listen to them,
Good Luck.
